Ta Van Village is an independent operator of private tours in Ta Van, the village on the floor of the Muong Hoa valley below Sapa. We plan and sell the tours on this site ourselves, take bookings directly, and run every day together with a licensed tour operator in Sapa and licensed local guides who speak fluent English.
We are not connected with the Ta Van Commune People’s Committee, the tourist-area board, Hoang Lien National Park or any government body, and we do not sell anyone’s tickets on their behalf. Three sample tours are on the site; every one of them can be tailored to your group.
Three private ways into Ta Van
A half day in the Giay lanes with an indigo workshop, a full day with a family lunch and the bamboo forest, and three days from Hanoi with a 4-star hotel in Sapa.

Most visitors see Ta Van for an hour, as the lunch stop at the end of a trek from Lao Chai, among other groups on the busiest path in the valley. The Giay hamlets just off that path, the indigo and beeswax work of the Black Hmong families and the Red Dao village across the stream take time, introductions and a guide who can explain what you are looking at. That is the day we set out to sell.
Private means your group of one to four alone, in your own car, with your own guide. Nobody outside your party is added, and the route can be changed before you book or adjusted on the day.
Who does the work on the day
Tours are operated with a licensed Vietnamese tour operator in Sapa. Our guides hold Vietnamese tour-guide cards, are local to the area and speak fluent English. Their job is to explain: how a Giay house is arranged, how a beeswax pattern becomes a pale line on indigo, why the terraces look different in May and September.
The families who host tea and lunch, and the workshops where you draw in wax, are paid for their time from the tour price. We do not take guests to souvenir showrooms, and we earn nothing from what you choose to buy.
What the price covers, and what it does not

On the 3-day tour from Hanoi the price also covers two nights at a 4-star hotel in Sapa town and a Red Dao herbal bath. The full list for each tour is on its own page: the half day, the full day and three days from Hanoi.
Booking, payment and cancellation
Two ways: pay the full price online by card, or pay a 30% deposit online and the rest in cash on the day of the tour, in US dollars or Vietnamese dong. We can also send a secure payment link on WhatsApp. The booking is confirmed once the online payment goes through, and your pickup time and guide’s name arrive in writing.
Yes - free cancellation up to 3 days before departure for a full refund, and free rescheduling subject to availability. Within 3 days of departure, 30% of the tour price (the deposit) is charged because the car and guide are already committed.
This 3-day tour includes two hotel nights, so it has its own terms: free cancellation up to 21 days before departure for a full refund. From 21 to 14 days before, 50% of the hotel cost is charged. Within 14 days, including no-shows, 30% of the tour price (the deposit) is charged. Date changes are free up to 21 days before, subject to availability.
The full terms are in our Booking Terms.
